The systems optical technology delivers a fully automated light-weight portable CMM measurement process that does not rely on ultra-precision bearings or physical linkages for its long term accuracy, and that has low sensitivity to thermal expansion in uncontrolled environments.

Actiris 350 Portable CMM delivers forceful measurement capabilities with single point accuracy of +/- 0.015mm and a high level of dependability of results through its continuous real-time monitoring of the actual position of part datums during measurement. It’s unique Dynamic Referential feature allows parts to be measured without being fixed down, avoiding complicated fixturing or any special mounting of the system, and enables this unique portable CMM to inspect the component in a single setup without the complication or errors of leapfrogged datums, delivering reduced inspection times and eliminating datum referencing errors. For engineering applications, parts that are moving or deflected under load are able to be measured without loss of accuracy.

The system’s CAD Model Based Inspection capabilities incorporate full surface measurement functionality and automated graphical inspection reporting, allowing extensive general metrology needs to be met. By simply triggering the measurement probe on the part feature the system will display the actual surface deviation.

Automatic Alignment Setup & Dynamic Reference Frame
Actiris350 offers the user 2 types of alignment setup: a manual one and an automatic one with no probing, which reduces human errors. Both the sensor and the part can be moved during the measurement process without any need to re-align after each move, for a greater flexibility and time saving.

Measurement Range Volume Extension
To dynamically extend the measurement volume is now possible without any additional alignment setup. Actiris350 can be repositioned along the part to be measured (or the part may be translated) with automatic and continuous capture of the measurement reference frame. No probing is necessary to re-establish datums after the part or the unit is moved.

Self-monitoring Calibration
Calibration parameters are continuously under surveillance allowing the system to itself identity when a calibration is necessary. The two minutes calibration process can be easily performed by the operator. The yearly return of the unit to factory for calibration is simply not required. traceability is established with a calibration bar that may be recertified by local facilities.
