Concurrent announced AdvancedMC (AMC) dual display video graphics adaptor. The AM 400/x01 is a high-quality, low-power embedded graphics AdvancedMC module supporting a variety of Digital Flat Panel, S-Video or CRT devices. A mid-size front panel option is available without the S-Video interface. The graphic controller's rich feature set includes a complete 3D rendering suite, hardware support for MPEG/DVD playback, a 2D drawing engine that supports bit block transfers, transparent block transfers, color expansion, and line draw. The AM 400/x01 is designed to add a graphics and, if required disk drive, into a single-width full-size or mid-size AdvancedMC slot in a system, e.g. MicroTCA, where functionality, power, space and cost are key elements. Applications include telecommunications, defense, aerospace and medical markets. A variant operating at -25°C to +70°C is also available for harsher environments.

The AM 400/x01 AdvancedMC adaptor utilizes the Silicon Motion SM722 3D/2D dual display controller. The SM722, with 8MB of high-performance on-chip SGRAM, provides good 2D/3D video graphics performance with low power consumption (less than 2W). The SM722 system I/O interface connects via a PCI to PCI Express bridge to the AdvancedMC.1 Type 1 (port 4) connection on the AM 400/x01's AdvancedMC fat pipe interface.

Depending on the operating system, the AM 400/x01 supports a wide range of single or dual display resolutions and refresh rates for standard and wide-screen formats. The adaptor supports a range of Digital Flat Panel resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz, a range of CRT resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 @ up to 85Hz and S-Video (PAL or NTSC, YC video). The Digital Flat Panel and CRT outputs are sourced via a DVI-I connector and the S-Video output is sourced via an industry standard S-Video connector.

The optional onboard 2.5" Serial ATA disk drive connects directly to the AdvancedMC.3 Type S2 (port 2) connection in the AM 400/x01's common options region. This interface supports transfer rates up to 150Mbytes/s.

The AM 400/x01 is designed in compliance to AdvancedMC.0 (including full hot swap and IPMI capabilities) and can operate with an appropriate single board computer AdvancedMC module like Concurrent Technologies' PR AdvancedMC/33x processor module.

Concurrent Technologies' PR AdvancedMC/33x AdvancedMC processor module supports either the 1.4GHz or 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium M processor to provide high performance processing and utilizes the Intel E7520 server chipset. The PR AdvancedMC/33x supports up to 2 Gbytes DDR2-400 ECC SDRAM and a range of I/O functions including x8 PCI Express fat-pipe connections (AdvancedMC.1 Type 8), dual Gigabit Ethernet (AdvancedMC.2 Type E2), dual Serial ATA (AdvancedMC.3 Type S2), IPMI (AdvancedMC.0), two USB and two RS232 interfaces. The PR AdvancedMC/33x is a single-width full-size AdvancedMC module.

Operating systems supported by these AdvancedMC boards include Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Linux and QNX.

The AdvancedMC specification is ratified by PICMG to be compatible with the current AdvancedTCA (ATCA) and the MicroTCA system architectures. The AdvancedMC concept provides a system integrator with a modular approach that is scalable, cost effective, fabric based, and hot swappable. The modules are designed according to a series of AdvancedMC.x specifications - where AdvancedMC.0 defines the form-factor, connector, power and thermal characteristics, management, clocking and base fabric, AdvancedMC.1 maps PCI Express onto the extended (or fat pipe) fabric interface, AdvancedMC.2 defines Ethernet ports, AdvancedMC.3 defines mass storage ports and AdvancedMC.4 defines Serial RapidIO.
