BP is introducing universal contactless RFID based payment system for BP-branded retail locations. This RFID based payment system allows consumers to pay for purchases using MasterCard PayPass, ExpressPay and VISA payWave from American Express. This Contactless system will be available at more than 1,100 BP-branded sites.

The new payment system will use RFID technology through CommLinx to complete transactions. To pay, consumers hold their contactless-enabled payment card near the reader inside participating BP stores.

The new RFID payment system will benefit consumers with its increased speed and convenience; cards do not need to be swiped at registers and no signatures are required for purchases less than $25.

BP RFID based payment system is scheduled to be released by mid of 2008.
